He carried his catch to a fishmonger, while the remainder of the catch remained on the boat to be auctioned later in the fisheries harbor. Area fishermen like him can earn $100 to $200 from a trip that happens about once a week. The fisheries sector is a key part of Sri Lanka's social and economic life and fish products are an important source of protein for the nearly 20 million people in this Indian Ocean island nation. ......
