It's no secret that we love the Ohio State University Museum of Biological Diversity. This nondescript building on Kinnear Road houses millions of fossils, skeletons and preserved specimens of insects, fishes, mammals, mollusks and reptiles that represent thousands of species. Every day, new and old specimens are examined, preserved, cataloged, digitized and studied by researchers here and around the world. The museum is closed to the public, but every year since 2005, it hosts an open house and shows off its collections. This year's theme explores the role color plays in nature. There are so many specimens that it would take an awful lot of ink to list them all....
